10 Books I Am Most Thankful For This Year

top10tues

This week’s Top 10 Tuesday is Thanksgiving related and a freebie. So I thought it was a perfect time to showcase some of the my most loved books that I am thankful for this year. I am keeping it within books that i read this year. Because if I use all books, I am going to become repetitive and I am sure most of you can predict what books I’d use!

TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Please check out their page for future topics.

Okay first up are 3 books that had me sobbing. More Happy than Not is such an emotional, dark book. I didn’t expect to be punched in the gut with this book, but it was fabulous. Adam Silvera is the author to look out for. His storytelling was captivating. As for It Ends with Usoh my god guys heart ripped out and shredded to pieces. This book was too much agony. I couldn’t stop crying and I couldn’t get it out of my mind for at least two weeks. Morning Star was a great finale. Sobbing because it was over and beautifully written. Praise Pierce Brown ❤

Yes, the lovely Victoria Scwab gets featured twice because that’s how much I love her writing and her word building. ADSOM was my first read and I can’t wait to read more because she has some of the most wonderful characters! They are all my babies! Protect them at all costs! Yes, I can also include Harry Potter because I finally read it after all this time. It definitely lives up to the hype.

So many great worlds and characters! Plus, hello Rhysand ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Oh, and Magnus?! Yes please!

Last but not least,

Perfect ending to a perfect duology 😀

What books are you thankful for?

until next time xxoo

WWW Wednesday | August 31

wwwednes

Well hello hello! I am back today finally doing a WWW Wednesday! I sort of retired the meme here on my blog because it was starting to feel repetitive and I had had plans to start sprucing things up and making different posts…well that didn’t work out. Like at all. I fell into a  bit of a  blogging slump so I decided to just take a little break and only come back when I actually had something I wanted to do. At least until I felt comfortable coming back. Well this week I felt it was time! So I am picking this meme back up because I liked sharing my weekly progress. I doubt each week will be long because it’s been taking me longer to read lately. So forgive me.

Now, you know the drill!

gameonms  psilikeyou  morningstar   harry-potter-and-the-cursed-child  IEWU

Has anyone else finished The Cursed Child? I’d love to talk about it! I was slightly disappointed but still really enjoyed it. I fell absolutely in love with Scorpius Malfoy. I think he is my new favorite character! ❤

Also, I am in a huge contemporary mood right now after finishing It Ends With Us. Ohmygod. 😥

wheninromeSynopsis (from GR):

Rory Hartnett has sworn off love, so boys will not be a distraction on her six-week study abroad trip to Rome. She has her plate full dealing with her anxiety in a foreign country, making new friends to explore the city with, taking classes, and applying for an internship at a travel e-zine. But when she meets the cute artist sharing her eccentric host mother’s lodging, all bets are off.
Fall in love with the first in a brand new series about four girls finding themselves—and maybe love—in the city of fountains. If you loved Anna and the French Kiss or Love & Gelato, you won’t want to miss this sweet New Adult series from new romance author Lena Mae Hill.

I received an eARC copy of this novel via Netgalley!

comingupnext

playon

Seeing as I am still in a contemporary mood, I plan on reading Play On by Michelle Smith next. This is the first book in the Lewis Creek series that I had skipped when I read the sequel, Game On. I can’t wait to start this novel! Hopefully it will conclude my contemporary mood because I have Nevernight and This Savage Song waiting on my shelf patiently for me to begin.

Well that concludes this week on my reading progress!

What is your most recent favorite read?

What are you currently reading?

Have you read The Cursed Child?

Do you ship Scorbus, as I do?

Until next time,

The Harry Potter Book Tag

HPBookTag

I saved this tag for when I finally read all of the books and now I can finally do it! Yay! No one tagged me, but I am doing it anyway because I can do what I want 😀

THE QUESTIONS

What is your favorite book?

Harry_Potter_and_the_Goblet_of_Fire_(US_cover)

This is hard because I love so many equally but I think I can going to go with Goblet of Fire. I think the Triwizard Tournament was so exciting and fun to read about. Plus it really took Voldemort’s journey to a whole other level. Also, Cedric Diggory ❤

What is your favorite film?

tumblr_lip0awAEpx1qc3d8no1_500.gif

I am going to have to go with Goblet of Fire for this one again. For so long this has been my favorite movie. I loved the tournament, the Winter ball, and just everything.

What is your least favorite book?

chamberofsecrets

I still really liked this book, but it was just not my favorite.

What is your least favorite film?

harry-potter-order-of-the-phoenix-movie-poster

I still like this movie, but I just think it was missing too much. Plus if I am going to let my feelings get in the way, I hate what happens to one of my favorite characters 😥

tumblr_na52elzafi1sg49umo4_500.gif

Parts of the books/film that made you cry?

I have literally so many moments. I am a baby while reading so I won’t list everything, but here are some of my favorites:

  • Sirius giving Harry permission to go to Hogsmeade on the weekends
  • Sirius’ end.
  • The Order of the Phoenix speaking to the Dursleys and sticking up for Harry
  • “I’m not worried, Harry. I am with you.”
  • Dumbledore
  • Every. Single. Death.
  • and ugh Snape. Even though I don’t love him as much as everyone else seems to. I liked him and he redeemed himself in the end, but not enough for me to forgive him for all the bullying. The end was still pretty heartbreaking.

Who is your favorite character?

SIRIUS BLACK ALWAYS! He was the only family Harry had left and I will never be over this OKAY?!

tumblr_mj3tzvHfhz1qlnfz6o2_500.gif

tumblr_nsi87rQdR51uzf2sso2_250.gif

Who is your least favorite character?

Petter Pettigrew. What a little twerp. I can’t stand this guy.

What is your least favorite line?

“After all this time?”
“Always.

I am only choosing this because it gets overused.

What would your Patronus be?

Well according to a Buzzfeed quiz, my Patronus is a swan. Like Cho Chang’s.

If you could have the resurrection Stone, the Invisibility Cloak, or the Elder Wand, which would you choose?

inclock.gif

The Invisibility Cloak. Because how fun would that be?!

Which house would you be in?

ravenclaw

RAVENCLAW PRIDE! I’ve been sorted on Pottermore 3 times so it’s official. 😉

If you could meet any one ever of the cast, who would it be?

Emma Watson. She is so beautiful and wonderful and now she is my favorite Disney princess ever, Belle.

tumblr_lp4i96jXFC1qlc29oo4_500.gif

If you were on the Quidditch team, which position would you play?

Can I be a mascot? Because I am so not athletic and cannot play sports at all haha.

Were you happy with the ending?

As awful and heartbreaking as it was, yes I am really satisfied with the ending,

How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

It means my entire childhood. Though I didn’t finish reading the books until recently, I remember getting together every year with all my friends to go to the theater to see the movies. It was always memorable and fun. I only regret I didn’t keep up with the books like everyone else.

Now, what house do you belong?

Until next time,

T5W: Fictional Items I Want

fictionalitems

Hello! Here I am again finally doing a T5W! I really liked this topic so I couldn’t pass it up.

Top 5 Wednesday is a group/meme created by Gingerreadslainey from booktube. You can check the Goodreads group for future topics.

This week’s topic is fictional items that you want. So since I want pretty much everything from every book I read, this may be hard to narrow down! But let’s get to it!

5. Witchlight – The Shadowhunters Chronicles

witchlight.gif

This scene is one of my favorites where Jace gives Clary her first Witchlight and I just want one too! They are so much cooler than a flashlight!

4. Pensieve -Harry Potter

pensieve.jpg

Some of my favorite parts to read were the memories through the Pensieve. I just think having a way revisit memories this vividly is exciting. We can’t always remember memories as well as they happen and you can preserve them to relive.

3. Morozova’s Stag amplifier – Grisha

morozova.jpg

The minute we learned about the amplifiers and Alina’s Morozova’s stag I wanted it for myself! The amplifiers are a cool concept for our Grisha. Where’s mine? And where’s my kefta too?

2. Stele – The Shadowhunters Chronicles

stele

I just really want to be a Shadowhunter, okay? 😥

1. Wand – Harry Potter

harryswand.gifAnd A WIZARD! 😥

Well that’s a wrap. I really tried not to make my whole list all Harry Potter or Shadowhunters because I totally could have. I want so much from both of those series because they are both my favorite.

What fictional item do you really want?

Until next time,

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

HPDeathlyHallows

Where do I even start with this review? I can tell you right now it’s going to be very “professional” and more of a blubbering mess because that’s exactly what I am!!

giphy (4)

First of all, this book was utter perfection. I have literally not one negative thing to say about it. The way JK wrapped up the entire series into a nice pretty bow (maybe not so pretty because it was heartache after heartache) was so nicely done because everything, everything, came full circle! Absolutely everything connected so well together that I am still in awe how this amazing woman even did it! No wonder everyone bows down to her.

Now I am going into spoilery territory because like I said in my other review, I assume everyone has read the series and I am the last lone reader. So read at your discretion.

Harry  really made me love him this book even more. He was so selfless and protective over this friends, maybe to a fault, that it was truly heartbreaking. He literally thinks he had to go into dangerous paths on his own because he didn’t want anymore else to get hurt because of him. His bravery is so inspiring. He didn’t even think twice when faced upon his own death. Once he founds out what he needs to do to defeat Voldy he doesn’t even hesitate! He just does! I cried my eyes out so many times over this Boy Who Lived. I just can’t deal.

I am also glad to see he still had some of his sass. Even when facing Voldy. I don’t know how many times I laughed when Voldy would say to him “Do you dare-“ and Harry just interrupts him with “Yes, I dare.” Like please shut up while I school you, RIDDLE.

Hermione, oh my god Hermione! I loved her so so so much in this book. I am not even talking about her brain or power to work through her broken heart when Ron left and how determined she was to keep going to make sure they found the Horcruxes, but her strength and quick reflexes while in battle! She grew so much over the series. She started taking down Death Eaters and taking names! GO HERMIONE! YOU GO GIRL.

Plus, I may or may not have cried when Ron wanted to save all the house elves and Hermione just laid one on him! ❤

Though it was a little frustrating when Harry had a clear gut instinct that they had to go to Godric’s Hollow or search for the Deathly Hallows and Hermione kept trying to talking him out of it because “if Dumbledore knew about them why didn’t he just tell you, Harry?” Umm..maybe because Dumbledore never told Harry ANYTHING, HERMIONE! Maybe because of that! When did he ever actually tell him straight out what to do. He left Harry figure things out for himself so he knew the risks and was able to make up his mind about what he needed to do.

Before this “review” gets too long I will make a quick list of everything that I enjoyed.

THE EPIC

  • The Deathly Hallows and how they tied into the overall story.
  • The Elder Wand and wandlore behind how to retrieve it.
  • DUMBLEDORE’S PAST!!! Oh god, my heart literally cannot take it!
  • Harry’s struggles to believe Dumbledore was the man he thought and still was “Dumbledore’s man through and through” regardless of what his past showed.
  • Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Oh lordy XD
  • The Horcruxes! It was so interesting to see what objects Voldy used and where he hid them. I never felt bored once while we were searching for them.
  • Neville! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ He was almost a completely different person. So brave
  • The Prince’s Tale. I am not crying I am not crying I am not crying
  • Remus asking Harry to be Teddy’s godfather. 😥
  • THE BATTLE OF HOGWARTS!!!
  • Molly vs. Bellatrix
    tumblr_loim6faiKZ1qhsb0ko1_500
  • Harry’s meeting with Dumbledore at King’s Cross. Seriously, Jo? as if my eyes weren’t already burning from all these tears!
  • The Resurrection Stone and Harry’s parents and Remus and Sirius. :”(
  • HARRY VS VOLDEMORT!!!!
    tumblr_inline_mgdwa2MkRM1rdvens

Seriously, I could go on forever but I won’t because I know you know how bloody brilliant this book and series is. I don’t even know how many times I actually had to physically walk away from this book because of how much I was crying. During every emotional scene or death I had to get up and go do something else. This book was heavy on my heart and I don’t think I can get over it.

Overall, I am so glad I finally decided to read this series and feel I am a better reader now because of these books. With that being said…

That’s a wrap on Harry Potter!
