Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag | 2017

Wow I cannot believe it’s already time for the Mid-Year Freak Out tag! I have already completed my Goodreads reading challenge and I am feeling pretty good about myself right now!

I wasn’t tagged by anyone, but decided to do it anyway. Also I have no idea who created this tag so if you know, please feel free to let me know so I can tag them!

Right now I am going with WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI by Sandhya Menon. If you haven’t read this book, please do so immediately. It is the perfect rom-com for summer reading. It’s so cute and filled with the most adorable two nerds ❤

I could not pick up any other book besides LORD OF SHADOWS by Cassandra Clare. This was one of the most amazing sequels I’ve read since ACOMAF. It is quite the roller coaster though. So be prepared for some major heart-stopping moments!

I am so sad I haven’t gotten to read this yet! I am such Hamiltrash and I was anticipating this release for so long! What makes matters worse is I don’t even own it yet! 😥

I know. No one is as shocked as I. However, I think ACOMAF was so perfect that I just had too high expectations. There was so much war plotting and scheming that it just got lost for me. Rhys wasn’t the same snark High Lord that stole my heart because he just bent to Feyre’s every whim. Plus there are all those issues that SJM included surrounding the LGBT+ rep. I acknowledge the problematic material and I think it just rubbed me the wrong way even if I still somewhat enjoyed the book. But as a finale, not so much. I know that SJM is planning the spinoff books so that let the ending too open ended. But I can’t wait to read the next books! I hope one of them is about my bby Tarquin!!

I am going with WHEN LIFE GETS IN THE WAY by Ines Vieira. I am surprised how much I fell in love with this book and Isaac and Cassie! The story really tugged at my heartstrings and made me feel so badly for Isaac! Plus, Cassie’s brother Nicky???? Ines has made me fall completely in love with one single character in less than a few pages. I don’t know how she did it, but she did. I can’t wait for his story!

If you haven’t read this book, do it!

Definitely Adam Silvera aka the only author who has made me cry at page 1. His writing is so special. His stories are so special. He is now one of my all time favorite authors. I will read literally anything he writes from now on.

Oh lord so many!!! I’ll just make a list for this one because there is literally too many to find fanart for lmao.

  • Nicky Mackenize from WHEN LIFE GETS IN THE WAY by Ines Vieira | Now we don’t really see a lot of Nicky in this book, but it was enough to get me completely in love with him! I can’t wait to read more about him and see him in his own novel! Ines is going to make me the happiest when I finally get some more Nicky ❤
  • Paul Markov from THE FIREBIRD TRILOGY by Claudia Gray
  • Stiles Stilinski from Teen Wolf (I know this isn’t book related. Shh I love him)
  • Azriel from ACOTAR (he is my mate. it’s true) | okay i’ve always loved him but now I am obsessed and I am fully convinced that he is my mate. if you’ve read ACOTAR you know what I mean *nudge nudge*

Dante Quintana from ARISTOTLE AND DANTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE by Benjamin Alire Saenz. He is a precious cupcake and I love him to bits.

I don’t know the artist or else I would have tagged.

THIS BOOK IS SO EMOTIONAL! I dare you to read it and not cry!

This is my favorite book. I’ve already read it 4 times because whenever i’m sad I want to be back with Simon and Blue.

LOOK AT IT!! That cover is so gorgeous! ❤ ❤ ❤

It’s been a year since I’ve read Drums of Autumn 😦 I don’t know if I want to continue reading Outlander, but I figured I better just read book 5 and decide.

Well there you have it! I can’t believe I actually did a post for my blog! I am so proud of myself!

until next time xxoo

Best book and/or series that you’ve read in 2016

crooked  ACOMAF  tms

I am sure many people are going to be mentioning ACOMAF, but I had to include it because it blew me away. Crooked Kingdom and The Midnight Star were great finales this year and deserve so much recognition.

Best Series:

Definitely The Young Elites by Marie Lu, Shades of Magic by VE Schwab, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo,ILady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, lluminae Files by Amie Kaugman and Jay Kristoff were some of my absolute favorites

A Darker Shade final for Irene  Illuminae Ray V6FrontOnlyA2A_V3.indd  .ladymidnight

Authors that You’ve recently found and would love to read more from:

  • Victora Schwab – Shades of Magic. I really wanted to start reading her Archived series. This Savage Song was another great book tat I read from her this year.
  • Roshani Chokshi – The Star-Touched Queen. Though it wasn’t my favorite book of this year and was a bit disappointing when I found out it was a standalone, Chokshi’s writing captivated me.
  • Tarryn Fisher – F*ck Love. I really enjoyed this book and found it a bit addicting. I need to read more books by her because she seems like an awesome person too.
  • Adam Silvera – More Happy than Not. Oh my god this book was absolutely fantastic. History is All You Left Me is one of my most anticipated of 2017 now. I need more of Adam’s books!

Most anticipated book turned movie/tv show?

I am not really a fan of book adaptations because more likely than not, I am always disappointed. So I like to envision my favorite books in my head just the way I love them.

Although I am interested in seeing what they did with Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon and Ready Player One.

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight (if there is one)

Rhysand. Always Rhys. ❤

What’s on your TBR for 2017? (Top 5 will suffice if it’s an extremely long list!)

crystalstorm hiaylm  flamemist

these are just a few because I am constantly adding books, but I do want to read more diverse books too in 2017. Also, I know Crystal Storm is out already but my book is on the way, so by the time I can read it it will be 2017 anyway. 😉

How many books do you hope to read in 2017?

I am not too sure yet, but I will say about 60. I don’t want to set a too high goal because I will stress myself out. I read over 100 books this year so I am satisfied. If I don’t read that next year, it’s not the end of the world. 🙂

Will you participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge or any others (PopSugar, Read the Books You Buy, etc.)

Absolutely. the Goodreads challenge is the only challenge I am faithful to complete. I don’t do too well with readathons or other challenges because I tend to get distracted or want to read whatever I want so I can’t stick to anything but the Goodreads goal. Oops.

Any New Year’s Resolutions? (Bookish, blogging, and otherwise)

Read more diversely. Also, blog more. I definitely didn’t blog much this year and I am ashamed of myself. 😦

Well that’s it! I am not going to tag anyone, but if you would like to do this tag please feel free!

Mulan Book Tag

Thank you so so much to the creator of this tag, Kirsty and the Cat Read for this wonderful tag! I did her other tag, Beauty and the Beast already and couldn’t wait to do her new tag. Thanks again for tagging me! 😀

The Rules:
  • Mention the creator (Kirsty and the Cat Read)
  • Thank/mention the person who tagged you
  • Match books or characters to the questions below
  • tag as many people as you like🙂
1. Reflection “When will my reflection show who I am inside” – An inaccurate book cover that doesn’t really reflect what the book is about.

I am going with my current read, Gilded Cage. Though that is a pretty gate, I do not think it really shows what the book is about. Seems a little plain for me.

-About the book-

Not all are free. Not all are equal. Not all will be saved.

Our world belongs to the Equals — aristocrats with magical gifts — and all commoners must serve them for ten years. But behind the gates of England’s grandest estate lies a power that could break the world.

A girl thirsts for love and knowledge.

Abi is a servant to England’s most powerful family, but her spirit is free. So when she falls for one of the noble-born sons, Abi faces a terrible choice. Uncovering the family’s secrets might win her liberty, but will her heart pay the price?

A boy dreams of revolution.

Abi’s brother, Luke, is enslaved in a brutal factory town. Far from his family and cruelly oppressed, he makes friends whose ideals could cost him everything. Now Luke has discovered there may be a power even greater than magic: revolution.

And an aristocrat will remake the world with his dark gifts.

He is a shadow in the glittering world of the Equals, with mysterious powers no one else understands. But will he liberate—or destroy?

2. Mushu – A character with a lot to prove.

I am choosing Darrow from Red Rising. In the beginning, he is saved and turned into a Gold though he was born a Red. He goes undercover as a Gold and boy does he have a lot to prove. He has a lot of pressure put on his shoulders with a lot at risk. If you haven’t read this trilogy yet. Please do.

3. “I’ll make a man outta you!” – A character who develops the most OR a book with some kick-ass training scenes

FEYRE! FEYRE FEYRE FEYRE! Her training scenes with Rhys in ACOMAF! Oh my god. So great! Plus Feyre has the best character development.

4. “A Girl Worth Fighting for” – A ship you will defend till your last breath

I am going with Feyre and Rhys again. I know a lot of fans are on board with this ship now after ACOMAF, but I did get a lot of weird responses once I said I shipped them in ACOTAR. Yes he was a jerk and what he put Feyre through wasn’t cool…but I knew there had to be some development. There had to be.

5.Huns – A book/character that gives you the creeps

I am drawing a blank. I don’t really read any “creepy” books. I chose Miss Peregrine because I thought it was going to be creepy but it wasn’t. So maybe Mara Dyer? Creepy stalkers did make me uncomfortable while reading it.

6. Mulan – Your favourite badass female protagonist

I could say Feyre again. Or Tessa Gray. Or Claire Randall Fraser. But I always saw those lovely ladies. So I am going with Kady Grant from Illuminae. She is not someone who you want to mess with.  Plus, she’s a hacker!

I tag:

Wonderfilled Reads | BookNerdMomo | Reading Through Infinity | Mortal Reader

And now I have “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” stuck in my head and sang it through this whole post. So I leave you here with this. You’re welcome.

Gilmore Girls Book Tag

How crazy is it that today Gilmore Girls revival was released?! Oh my god I need to binge immediately! (which chances are I currently am right now 😉 )

So since our wishes were granted and we got new episodes, I thought it was the perfect time to do a Gilmore Girls book tag! It’s perfect. It combines my two favorite things! Gilmore Girls and books!

I took this tag from Yvonne’s (A World Between Folded Pages) post. Feel free to check out her post for her awesome answers as well!

So let’s get to it 😀

1. I just got hit by a deer!
– character having the worst day ever –

I am going to go with Kady Grant from Illuminae. First of all, her planet got attacked. Then she gets split up from her ex and mom/family. Reading Illuminae I just felt so bad for her because she couldn’t catch a break.

2. Stars Hollow
– wildly eccentric cast-
I am going with Yvonne’s answer too because this cast is so diverse and eccentric. Each character is so unique and shine. No one outshines anyone and it’s so hard to pick just one favorite. You will fall in love with each and every one of them.
3. Kim’s Antiques
– a world you’d be afraid to enter –
I have to go with This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. Hello, a city run by monsters? I would be terrified! Plus the monsters are created when a criminal act is committed? oh jeez.
4. Coffee
– a book you’re addicted to –
Can I say every single Colleen Hoover book ever? And ACOMAF?? Oh and The Young Elites!? It’s impossible to pick just one and it’s cruel to make me do so!
5. Lorelai & Luke
– a book about best friends who fall in love –
emmyoliverI loved this book so much. It made me so emotional while reading it. I remember Emmy and Oliver had the cutest friendship when they were younger and watching them fall in love gave me feels like you wouldn’t believe ❤
6. Mr. Medina
– an illicit affair –
dimilyTyler and Eden from the DIMILY trilogy. These two are stepsiblings who fell in love. Forbidden but I loved them to pieces okay? These books were so emotionally exhausting because i shipped them so hard 😦
Plus Tyler? Agh ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤  ❤
7. Dean
– first book love –
Patch Cipriano. I used to love him so much! This trilogy wasn’t the greatest but it was my favorite when I was into that YA Paranormal phase. I used to read nothing else and Patch was my first book boyfriend. I would count Edward when Twilight came out but I didn’t really fall for him like I did Patch. I was obsessed with Patch. Even my boyfriend said I used to talk about him all the time 😀 oops
8. Luke’s Diner
– a comfort read –
I don’t think I have a comfort read. I have reread November 9 and Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. But I wouldn’t call those comfort reads since they both make me sob? Hmm…maybe Anna and the French Kiss trilogy? Since they are all so cute!
9. Am I crying or laughing?
– a book that messed with your emotions –
Without a doubt It Ends with Us! This really messed me up emotionally. If you have read it, you know what I mean.
10. I pushed him in the lake!
– a book you’d throw in a lake –
99daysWords cannot describe how much I hated this book. It was so pointless and I wish I could erase it from my brain.
Well that’s it! I may be doing more Gilmore Girls tags because I am going to be on a Gilmore high!
Now if you excuse me, BACK TO MY BINGING!
Thanks for reading! until next time xxoo

The Beauty and the Beast | Book Tag

Hello! It’s been awhile I know, but today I am excited because my lovely friend Ari from The Daydreaming Bookworm tagged me to do The Beauty and the Beast book tag! Now if you know me you know Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite Disney movie! So I am ecstatic to do this tag finally! Thanks Ari ❤

♥ Thank the person who tagged you.
♥ Mention the creator → Kirsty @ Kirsty and the Cat Read.
♥ Match a book to each of the songs/characters below.

♥ Tag as many people as you like.

Let’s get started!

“TALE AS OLD AS TIME” – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading

Second chance romances! I love love love when couples come back together for a second chance at love! It gives me so many feels and makes me so happy. Especially when the characters were best friends and they get a second chance! ❤

BELLE – A book your brought for it’s beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too

Definitey Six of Crows. This book has one of the most beautiful covers. The Crows wing and how it gives the silhouette of the buildings. Plus, the inside? OMG BEST BOOK! This is one of my favorite books of all time.

If you haven’t read it yet, please do ❤ you won’t regret it.

BEAST – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you

outlanderI didn’t think I was going to really like this book going into it. It was too long, it was too old (time-travel), but when I got started oh my heart I fell in love immediately. Now Outlander is one of my favorite series and Jamie Fraser is the love of my life.

Plus, the tv show just the book justice. It’s so fantastic!

GASTON – A book everyone loves that you don’t

I wouldn’t say “everyone” loves this book because I see so many people on Instagram lately who seem to feel the exact same way I do, but it’s very popular and very well loved. Especially on booktube. Because of this I thought I would love it just as much as all the booktubers I watch loved it, but I didn’t. I still don’t. I am currently trying for the second time to read the sequel and I am just not that into it. Curse my curiosity!

Oh well, how did you feel about this book? Does the series get better?

LEFOU – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counter part

I can’t help, but choose Kenji from Shatter Me every single time this question gets asked. I love Kenji so much and he’s part of the reason I loved the Shatter Me books. He was funny and such a great friend to Juliette. I want Kenji as my best friend! 😦

MRS. POTT, CHIP, LUMIER & COGSWORTH – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable.

Feyre’s struggle and journey was so inspiring. Maas really showed the demon’s one faces when dealing with PTSD and seeing Feyre fight through it was important. She battled her depression over what she did and came out stronger than ever. Plus, Rhys and his feminism? Yes.

“SOMETHING THERE” – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end

Iathousandnights wasn’t really into this book in the beginning because I couldn’t help compare it to The Wrath and the Dawn, but towards the end I ended up really enjoying it and how much they differed from each other. Each are a A THousand and One Nights retelling, but they each shine in their own way. I loved this take on why the king was doing what he was. I thought it was interesting.

“BE OUR GUEST” – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner

rhysRhysand all day every day.  Thank you very much. ❤
I mean he is my boyfriend so of course he would be over for dinner. right?

but seriously. I am so in love with this man that it’s become obsessive.

If you’ve read ACOMAF, you will understand. And if you have and didn’t fall in love with Rhys then I really don’t know what went wrong but he’s wonderful!

I am not going to tag anyone because it took so long for me to do this tag. But! if you would like to do this tag…consider yourself tagged!

Thanks again, Ari! And thanks for reading!

until next time,
