A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

ACOMAFreview

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.

omg

THIS BOOK WAS GLORIOUS AND WONDERFUL AND PERFECT AND YOU NEED TO READ IT RIGHT THIS INSTANT!

No joke.

I absolutely loved that this book was a Hades/Persephone retelling! I thought it couldn’t be more perfect and fit with her story so wonderfully. I won’t post any spoilers so no worries, but this was one of the best sequels I’ve read. It was everything I was hoping for and more. Feyre kicked some @ss and really became a force to be reckoned with. We saw a great unexpected (though I totally expected it) side of Rhysand and met some wonderful new characters that will steal your heart. ❤

First things first, please don’t let your ships ruin a book/series for you. I have seen way too many negative things surrounding Throne of Glass and now this series and it honestly makes me so sad. This series is one my all time favorites now and it deserves so much love just for being what it is. It’s not about a perfect fairytale. Feyre is broken in this book and needs help. Tamlin is broken. Rhysand is broken. Everyone went through suffering Under the Mountain at the hands of Amarantha in ACOTAR and didn’t come out unscathed.

Which leads us to Feyre. She has some of the best character development that I have seen. She was so lost and broken suffering from PTSD from being Under the Mountain that it was heartbreaking. She was wasting away and being tormented by the events from ACOTAR. I felt so badly for her because she just needed someone to comfort her, to make her see that she will be okay, that she wasn’t alone. She learns to deal with her demons and becomes one of the strongest characters I’ve read. She is seriously now my favorite character of all time. Her powers, her strength, her loyalty and willingness to sacrifice herself for those she cares about.

❝I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal.
I was a survivor, and I was strong.
I would not be weak, or helpless again
I would not, could not be broken. Tamed❞

Now, let’s talk about my precious baby Rhysand. I am so excited we saw way more of him than I expected. I couldn’t wait to see the Night Court and everything Rhys had to offer and let you tell you…I wasn’t disappointed. The Night Court is beautiful and I definitely wouldn’t mind belonging to their court. I don’t want to say too much about him because of spoilers but I loved him ever since ACOTAR. I was so intrigued by him and what he had to offer. I know many people didn’t like him because of everything he did to Feyre in book one, but he had his reasons. Rhys was the only one who was really fighting to help Feyre and believed in her. He stands by her side and roots for her. He shows her that she isn’t anyone’s pet or trophy and she alone makes her own decisions. He helps her. He challenges her when she needs it most. For that alone, he will always own my heart.

❝I love it when you look at me like that.❞
❝Like what?❞
❝Like my power isn’t something to run from. Like you see me.❞

swoon

Plus, Feyre does the same for him. She helps him see that he is not a monster and deserves happiness just as much as everyone else. Their connection and bond is beautiful! If you weren’t already shipping them, this book will most likely change your mind. It definitely pushed me into the deep end of obsession. I admit I shipped them in book one and I haven’t looked back! No shame. They are my OTP ❤

Plus, I dare you not to swoon every time he calls Fey, “Feyre darling” 😀

ACOMAF brings many new faces that I have such a soft spot for. Mor, Amren, Cassian, and Azriel are some of the greatest new friends and family that welcome Feyre into their Inner Circle when she really needs a family. They are all unique and wonderful. Cassian is strong, Mor is fierce. Az is mysterious, Amren is intimidatingly strong. All are warriors and love each other so fiercely.

Tamlin and Lucien, on the other hand, really upset me and that will be all I say.

I really enjoyed how Sarah is weaving her story together. She brings some history into her novels that come to play in the present and it’s epic! It will be more to see more in the next coming novel!

This was fantastic and I am just going to swim around in my feels for a bit ❤

If you’ve read it, then let’s discuss! I’d love to hear what you though! 😀

Until next time,

BHSJDJAHJDHDFGH. I am dead. Literally. So I haven’t read this one yet and I wasn’t incredibly happy with ACOTAR. But the way you talk about the Night Court…gawsh I know I have to read it. Like ASAP. Or in the next few seconds. Legit, Dee. Your review makes me want to eat this book for dessert. Which I probably will do, anyways. I’m sure I’ll be swimming in my feels too, at the end of the book, or I’ll be drowning, because I’ll probably be…dying, dying…dead. 😛 ;D ❤ ❤

Awww I am sorry you didn’t really like ACOTAR. I loved it! SO I hope you like this one a bit better. I personally think it was great. Feyre is one the best characters and she is no damsel in distress. She learns to take care of herself and just becomes soooo STRONG! I was blown away!
Oh I definitely ate this book for dessert and now I want seconds LOL

I’m glad Feyre improves because in the Throne of Glass series, Aelin is like so artful and she’s a bookworm and she likes chocolate and yummy food and…Feyre just liked painting stuff and she was illiterate. It’s still cool, but I can’t relate, and I appreciate the character diversity between Maas’ two series. I guess I just sort of compared the two series’ while reading ACOTAR and I don think it’s as good as Throne of Glass, so I’m definitely looking for improvements here. I am hoping Feyre changes, a lot. And even though she’s physically attracted to Tamlin and all, I really DON’T like him. I sort of agree with you about Rhys and her. Tamlin seems to not ring with her, and Rhys is amazing. Under the mountain, Tamlin wasn’t allowed to help her and if he did she’d die, and I get he wanted to keep her safe or something. BUT. But Rhys would have been punished too if he was caught helping her and he still did it. I actually think he was caught once, and Amarantha ‘pushed’ him too hard or WHATEVER 😔 But I’m definitely going to be reading this based off of your review…SECONDS SOUNDS GOOD 😋😋

I just love both series so much and I can see why you’d compare them both, but they do each have something special to offer. Especially in this one. Rhys pushes Feyre and really helps her become stronger. She is broken and suffering and Rhys is the one to help her. Tamlin is just…selfish. I loved him in ACOTAR and I get that he couldn’t help her but he still should have tried. Rhys worked under the radar to help her. And in this book you really begin to see just how messed up that relationship with Tam was. It was so romanticized in book one that you kind of didn’t see the problems at first. I feel badly for him but I don’t really see the chemistry between Tam and Feyre. She works so much better with Rhys. I am so in love with him too so I will defend him forever lol no shame.
I REALLY HOPE YOU ENJOY IT MORE!

Your review and use of memes has totally convinced me to start this series and now I have two more books on the list of things to buy. Thank you for aiding me in my self-torture. 😉
