The Reading Habits Tag!

Hello! Here I am with another book tag! This time I was tagged by Parneet @ The Enchanted Book. Thank you so much for tagging me!

I am sorry I have been a teensy bit inactive. Between the excruciating wait for Queen of Shadows preorder to arrive, only to have it not arrive and then find another copy ASAP, then reading that massive emotional book I am exhausted. I am emotionally drained and am now currently in a book hangover! Thank you, Maas. I love you, but you broke my heart.  Anyway, speaking of QoS, I don’t really know if I want to write a review because I haven’t really written any reviews for the other books in the series yet and I’d feel really silly starting with book 4. But we’ll see! I have to talk to SOMEONE about it though! I am going out of my mind with all these feels!!

Anway, now that I’ve probably have you thinking “where is she going?” I’ll get into the tag!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I read in my room. I am usually always tossing and turning on my bed trying to find a comfortable spot to read, but that’s where the magic happens. I’d like to read outside more often but being that it’s summer and in Southern California is just too hot..I don’t want to even bother.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Usually I have a bookmark. I love bookmarks and I have recently fallen in love with Happy Hello on etsy. Seriously, the cutest bookmarks ever! But, if you whatever reason I am out and didn’t have a bookmark on me, yes I use random pieces of paper or a post it. I do carry post it notes on me at all times.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I have to stop after a chapter. I hate leaving off in the middle of a chapter, but if for whatever reason I have to stop right there and then, then I will stop at a break. But it really bothers me. Also I usually set a daily goal for myself. I have to read at least 100 pages a day just so I can get some progress.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

I do usually drink water while I am reading because I get so thirsty, but I have recently discovered I cannot eat. There have been so many times where I make something to eat and I am so invested in what I am reading that I forget to eat and my food ends up cold (then it’s just gross). So I don’t let myself do that anymore hehe

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I usually just read in the silence of my own room, but my family tends to be very loud so if I find them too distracting, I’ll put on some music. And when I say music, I don’t mean instrumental. Yes, I do not get distracted

One book at a time or several at once?

I usually read one book at a time, but sometimes I have multiples. I am currently reading Outlander, Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods, and picking a new book to start. The first two are my “here and there” books and then I have a “main” book that I read and focus on. Outlander is so massive and since I don’t want to be overwhelmed, I am reading it here and there and PJ is just for fun when I can’t decide. But every other time, I usually am sticking to one or two.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Definitely everywhere. I can’t go anywhere without a book. It’s like books are my second limb or something.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently. I do read out loud sometimes when my boyfriend is around because for some reason it makes me read faster (since I’m an auditory/visional learner) and he doesn’t mind my reading to him though.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I sometimes skim pages if I find parts to be very boring or there’s just way more detail that necessary. This is very rare, however. I try not to look ahead because my eyes have a bad habit of picking out very spoilery words! I am not even trying to do it on purpose, but it always happens!!

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

*cringes* breaking the spine? Never!! 

Do you write in your books?

No. I don’t like writing, stains or anything that could keep my book from looking pristine and sparkling. I do use stickies though at all my favorite parts or quotes.
