Top 5 Villains I Love to Hate

villains

Hello, I missed this week’s Top 5 Wednesday, but I really liked the topic so…better late than never. 🙂

5. Negan | the Walking Dead

negan

I am sure many will be shocked by this because of what happened to one of our beloved characters (he’s my favorite too. I cried :’) ) but Negan is the craziest characters I’ve read about. He is evil. Pure crazy, but he also cracks me up! Especially in the comics!

4. Holland & the cray cray twins | A Darker Shade of Magic

holland

I really liked Holland in ADSOM. I don’t really think of him as a true “villain” but I have to include him because I was really interested in his story. I can’t wait to read more about him.

3. The Jackal | Red Rising

jackal

This crazy is a psychopath. One of my favorite characters from the Red Rising trilogy because of how twisted he is.

2. The Darkling | The Grisha Trilogy

darkling

The Darkling has one of the best villain storylines. By the end of the trilogy I was bawling my eyes for him. His tragic past just got to me. Especially when we learn his real name. Ugh 😥

I hate him, but I also love him a little too. Such complexity!

1. Captain Jonathon “Black Jack” Randall | Outlander

bjr

There is no one i hate more than this a$$hole. Oh my gosh he is the literal worst! He makes me sick to my stomach. He’s a sadist psychopath. I am still not over his last scene from Outlander. I couldn’t even read it because I was physically sick.

I don’t know if I really “love” to hate him, but I loathe this man. So he’s included

Well there you have it! Some of my favorite villains. Who makes your list of favorite villains?

Top 5 Books I Want to Re-read

top5wed

It has been a very very long time since I’ve done a T5W so I thought I would today when I saw this week’s topic. Let’s talk about the books we want to reread! We all know we want to go back to some of our favorites. Now is the perfect time to showcase them!

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam, Thoughts on Tomes on booktube (former Gingerreadslainey). Please join the goodreads group for future topics!

Now without further ado…

t5w1123

These are just a few books that I really want to reread. Daughter of Smoke & Bone is so underrated and it’s magic is fantastic. I remember falling in love with this book from page one. As for the others, well…they reside in me and I desperately want to go back into those worlds. I have been wanting to reread November 9 since November 9th. I regret that I wasn’t able to. Maybe now that I just finished My Lady Jane I can???

What are some books you want to reread?
Have you read any of these?

thanks for reading!

until next time xxoo

WWW Wednesday | August 31

wwwednes

Well hello hello! I am back today finally doing a WWW Wednesday! I sort of retired the meme here on my blog because it was starting to feel repetitive and I had had plans to start sprucing things up and making different posts…well that didn’t work out. Like at all. I fell into a  bit of a  blogging slump so I decided to just take a little break and only come back when I actually had something I wanted to do. At least until I felt comfortable coming back. Well this week I felt it was time! So I am picking this meme back up because I liked sharing my weekly progress. I doubt each week will be long because it’s been taking me longer to read lately. So forgive me.

Now, you know the drill!

Has anyone else finished The Cursed Child? I’d love to talk about it! I was slightly disappointed but still really enjoyed it. I fell absolutely in love with Scorpius Malfoy. I think he is my new favorite character! ❤

Also, I am in a huge contemporary mood right now after finishing It Ends With Us. Ohmygod. 😥

wheninromeSynopsis (from GR):

Rory Hartnett has sworn off love, so boys will not be a distraction on her six-week study abroad trip to Rome. She has her plate full dealing with her anxiety in a foreign country, making new friends to explore the city with, taking classes, and applying for an internship at a travel e-zine. But when she meets the cute artist sharing her eccentric host mother’s lodging, all bets are off.
Fall in love with the first in a brand new series about four girls finding themselves—and maybe love—in the city of fountains. If you loved Anna and the French Kiss or Love & Gelato, you won’t want to miss this sweet New Adult series from new romance author Lena Mae Hill.

I received an eARC copy of this novel via Netgalley!

playon

Seeing as I am still in a contemporary mood, I plan on reading Play On by Michelle Smith next. This is the first book in the Lewis Creek series that I had skipped when I read the sequel, Game On. I can’t wait to start this novel! Hopefully it will conclude my contemporary mood because I have Nevernight and This Savage Song waiting on my shelf patiently for me to begin.

Well that concludes this week on my reading progress!

What is your most recent favorite read?

What are you currently reading?

Have you read The Cursed Child?

Do you ship Scorbus, as I do?

Until next time,

June’s Very Hot & Sizzling Wrap Up

phonto

Hello all! This year is going by way too fast! It’s already July! Which means IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! I can’t believe it! June just started and now it’s already over! Thank God though because I am counting down the days until September so summer is over! Ah well the end of June brings my small wrap up! I didn’t read as much as I would have liked this month because I fell into a bit of a reading slump. I blame the heat. I just have no motivation to read when I get overheated and then I feel sick.

However, I did get some reading done! So without further ado…

A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab | 4 stars

agos I am so in love with this trilogy and I hate myself for not picking it up sooner. I love the magic system and the different Londons that Victoria has created. Not to mention the wonderful, perfect characters that have all become my favorite! I can’t get enough of this world and story that I am fully convinced that the wait for ACOL will likely kill me.

😥

Saga Vol 2. by Brian K Vaughan | 4 stars

Saga Vol. 2

Really need to read more of this comic series. It’s great.

Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell | 3 stars

kindredspiritI won this little book in a giveaway and was so excited because it sounded so adorable. Two teens waiting in line for the new Star Wars movie? Yes please. It was so adorable (as expected) and I hate that it isn’t a whole novel! I WANT MORE! (as expected).

A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin | 5 stars

asosMy god. The Red Wedding. *cries forever* 😥

Seriously, these audiobooks are fantastic. I love Roy Dotrice’s narrating so much that I don’t know if I can go read the book on my own without wanting to hear his voice. It’s just so much more entertaining!

Gifted by JA George | 4 stars

giftedI received this lovely book from the author and it was such a great book! It’s a YA Contemporary Paranormal book with a very relatable character. It’s much more realistic than some stories and I found it so lovely. I loved getting to know each of the characters talents and they reminded me of Shatter Me.

I definitely recommend you read this book. It’s light and quick and has great characters.

You can find my full review here.

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella | 4 stars

audreyI read this book twice this month. I enjoyed it that much.

I listened to this book on audiobook as well and I totally recommend the audiobook. It’s such a great listen and made the book 10x funnier! I was so entertained and this was the exact book I needed for my mood at the time. I loved the portrayal of SAD and the lightness of the book. Audrey’s fight with social anxiety disorder is inspiring and I loved how she pushes herself.

You can find my review here.

Morning Star by Pierce Brown | 5 stars

morningstarMY GOD THIS BOOK WAS PERFECT! I think it was my favorite of the month. It’s such a great finale to a great trilogy. Thank God Pierce is writing a sequel trilogy because I just can’t get enough!

Seriously. If you haven’t picked up Red Rising please do yourself a favor and read it right now!

You can find my full review here.

I’ve Got your Number by Sophie Kinsella | 4 stars

gotyournumberSo since Finding Audrey was my first Sophie Kinsella book and I loved it, I decided it was time to pick up more because her writing was just great. It’s funny and lighthearted, but so cute and wonderful. The exact type of romcom book I needed after I finished A Storm of Swords and it’s heaviness.

This book was so much fun! I couldn’t stop laughing the whole way through.

Wedding night by Sophie Kinsella | 1 star- DNF @30%

weddingnight Well we can’t win them all. I didn’t like this one at all. I couldn’t connect to the characters. The MCs seemed a little ridiculous and I found myself wanting to listen to literally anything else than the book (another audiobook).

Oh well. Maybe I’ll try a different book and it will be better.

Hello, Goodbye, & Everything in between by Jennifer E SMith | 3 stars

hellogoodbyeSo much yes! This book takes place over one night before two teens go onto separate paths to college where they need to decide if they will stay together or break up. I am a fan of Jennifer E Smith so I am used to her fluffy, cute stories but this was more emotional that I am used to. Not to say it was sad, but I just felt for these characters and their big decision. I really enjoyed the outcome and found myself not wanting their night to end either.

Totally recommend. Find my review here

Well there you have it! My June wrap up! How was your reading month? What was your favorite book? Let me know! xxoo

Morning Star (Red Rising #3) by Pierce Brown

MorningStarr

Publisher: Del Rey
Released: February 9, 2016
Series: Red Rising #3
Genre: Science Fiction Dystopian, Young Adult/Adult Fiction crossover
Pages: 524

synopsisDarrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society’s mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.
Finally, the time has come.
But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied – and too glorious to surrender.

myreviewRed Rising has quickly become one of my favorite series of all time and Morning Star? One of my favorite finales. Even though Pierce Brown is now writing a new trilogy after the events of Morning Star. Yay. This novel had everything I wanted in a finale. It had a load of action. political intrigue, character development, and just so much heartfelt fangirl moments.

Morning Star takes place one year after the events of Golden Son and let me tell you, it was satisfying.  Darrow is a broken man. After experiencing torture at the hands of The Jackal for a year, he is losing his will to fight and it is heartbreaking. Everything that happens afterwards is so bittersweet. His relationship with Sevro, Mustang, Victra, and all the rest of The Howlers as he reclaims the fight.

The writing as always was impeccable. The action sequences were amazing and so vivid. I was constantly clutching my book because I was so scared for all my favorite characters. There was never a dull moment while reading this book and I loved that. It was so nice to see so many people come together to stand with Darrow and his cause. So bittersweet.

Also, I can’t not say that I am so happy my ship finally sailed!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
I was jumping up and down because I have been waiting for this for 3 books and it finally happened. Not only my ship, but my precious baby Sevro too! Sevro is such a delight to read and he brings a comic relief to an otherwise very serious and daunting journey. He has an colorful sense of humor and can annoy everyone, but he never fails in making me laugh. He is without a doubt my favorite character in this trilogy.

The plot was so engaging and brought one of the best endings I have read this year (as a finale). It was so heartbreaking and gives you a rush because you don’t know if everyone is going to make it out alive. To see Darrow and Mustang and even Cassius face off finally and bring out the outcome for the world to come after them? Such beauty. I am blown away by the events that transpired. Brown did an amazing job wrapping up this rebellion and I am so excited to see what’s in store next for our beloved characters.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed some serious tears. Even for our villain. I am so attached to these characters and this world that it will forever have an imprint on my heart. ❤
