Top 5 Wednesday: Retellings

Top 5 Wednesday is group created by Gingerreadslainey from Booktube. You can join and follow the Goodreads group here for future topics.

This week’s topic is so exciting! It’s favorite retellings!!  And I LOVE retellings!  So without further ado, let’s get started 😀

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

This is my absolute favorite book/retelling. Not only is Beauty and the Beast my favorite fairytale/Disney movie, but I thought SJM did a fantastic job weaving in the classic fairytale in with her own folklore. Besides, can we all talk about how hot Tamlin, Rhys, AND Lucien are? *swoon*

The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

An epic and beautiful retelling of A Thousand and One Nights completely captured my heart and has not let go since. This book means a lot to me!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

I am sure everyone knows by now about these retellings. This is one of my favorite series and each book is so fantastic. I love all the little passages from the original stories that fit so perfectly with what’s to come in story. Plus, Kai ❤

Cinder – Cinderella
Scarlet – Little Red Riding Hood
Cress – Rapunzel
Winter – Snow White

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Another Beauty and the Beast retelling! I really enjoyed this book. Though I wish I would have been more blown away, I still really enjoyed it. The magic and world were so beautiful!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

This book was based slightly on a scene from Cinderella. I didn’t even realize this until I saw it on an article about popular YA retellings. How cool!

Ta da! What are some of your retellings? Do you have any suggestions? I love reading these and am always looking for more.

Anywho, thanks for reading.

Until next time,

Top Ten Tuesday: New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

Welcome to another TTT! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Broke and Bookish

This week’s topic is ten new-to-me authors that I read in 2015. Now I don’t know if I will actually have ten this will, but I will try. And I am not going to go into detail or what I think about them because if you read my posts, you pretty much can probably guess who will be on this list and know how I feel about them.

Sarah J Maas

Colleen Hoover

Kasie West

Renee Ahdieh

J.K. Rowling

(shh, carry on…)

Pierce Brown

Rick Riordan

victoria Aveyard

Marissa Meyer

diana Gabaldon

Wow, I guess it was easy to find ten after all 😀 Now I know I’ve talked about these authors countless times, it’s so hard to believe I’ve just started reading them this year. I feel like I’ve been reading them forever!

Until next time,

Seasons of Book Blogging | Book Tag

Hi lovelies! I am finally doing this book tag. This awesome tag was created by Jordyn from J. Bookish and I was tagged by Maria @ Marwhal Reads and Astra @ A Stranger’s Guide to Novels. Thank you both for tagging me! ❤

  • Thank the creator (so she can see all of your answers!) and the person who tagged you.
  • Begin with the month in which you have been tagged and move forward from there!
  • State the best gift you’ve ever been given after you answer the question for your birthday month.
  • Tag whomever you’d like when you’re finished.. or else you’ll be “it” forever.
  • Have fun, of course!

November is the month when we’re reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. Choose one book you’re grateful for having read and give a shout-out to the person who recommended it!

I can go with my usual answer and say The Hunger Games or Throne of Glass but I’m going to switch it up today. I am thankful for Outlander because I am so proud I am reading it. It’s the longest book I have ever read and it’s so amazing. Also the show is absolutely fantastic ❤ So thanks to my awesome friend, Olivia, for telling me to read it!

December is a time when friends and families come together and celebrate. Name one book you would give as a gift.

Because I am in love with this book ❤

January begins a new year. Name a resolution you made this year and if you’ve kept it or not!

I made the resolution to read 100 books and for the first time ever, I DID IT!!! I actually finished a couple months ago.

February is the month for relationships. Name your favorite book relationship: romantic, platonic, or familial, your choice!

March is the month for luck and new beginnings. Name a book or series that you would like to re-experience as if you’d never read it.

😦 surprise surprise right?

April is a spectacularly ordinary month. Name a book that was so over-hyped that it just could not live up to your expectations.

While I had fun reading this, I just don’t see the hype. To me, it was just good not amazing.

May is the month when the flowers start to bloom.Name a book that was a pleasant surprise to you.

Honestly, I didn’t think I would like this series because I’m not a huge fan of sci-fi and since this was a Cinderella retelling with cyborgs? Immediately I thought “ew” but I picked it up because it was so many people’s favorite series. I am so glad I did pick it up because now it is one of my favorites as well!

June is the time to take a break. Name a book or genre that you like to read when you just need to check out.

I always reach out to CoHo immediately when I need a break. ❤

July is the time to celebrate independence. Name a book that made you see fireworks (figuratively. Please don’t light any books on fire.)

This book was so cute and just filled me so many feels!

Also since my birthday is in July, my favorite book I’ve ever been given for my birthday was Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. I chose this because  I usually always get giftcards for my birthday but when my mom bought me this because she actually remembered I love Aziz, it’s just too cute 😀

August is the hottest month of the year. Pick an up-and-coming author that you think will be the next hottest thing.

Sorry. I hear “hot” and “author” and immediately think Pierce Brown ❤ 😀
But I also really enjoyed Red Rising so…

September is time for students to go back to school! Pick a book you read for school that you actually enjoyed.

October is time to celebrate Halloween! Pick one character that you would love to dress up as for Halloween.

Yeah I love all these girls so much and I’d love to be either. I would pick Celaena but she’s blonde and I am not 😦

Well there you have it! Thank you so much for reading!

Now I tag:

And You! If you want to do this tag.

#ConqueringKingdoms Book Tag!

So I just saw Jessethereader do this tag on his channel and then Perfectioninbooks tagged me to do the very same tag! What an awesome coincidence! 🙂 So thanks for tagging me!

Confession time: I have never actually read Falling Kingdoms, but since it’s very high on my TBR and these questions are based off the series, I thought why not get in the spirit and do it anyway?

In Mytica, there are constant betrayals and you can’t trust anyone! Which book character would you trust to be your sidetrick on this adventure?

kenjiI am going to go with Kenji from the Shatter Me trilogy. I just love him to pieces and he is such a great friend to have around. He can make you laugh but also isn’t afraid to set up and protect you if need be. I absolutely adore Kenji.

You will come across many who want you dead in Mytica, so you need to be ready to fight. What kind of warrior are you?

Honestly, I am a wimpy warrior. I would not last at all. Not even joking 😦 LOL Maybe I need Celaena to train me or something…

What fantasy world would you like to conquer?

Adarlan! I just want to overthrow the king because he’s the worst. But then I can rule with Dorian and we can get married and be happy 5ever and ever 😀 amirite? ❤

Which fictional character would you choose to rule by your side?

dorianWow I feel like I just answered this unintentionally. But..DORIAN! DORIAN ALWAYS!

Who would you throw into the dungeon?

eww levanaWho wouldn’t I throw in a dungeon is more like it!? But I am going with Black Jack Randall from the Outlander series, because he can die like right now would be nice, and Levana from The Lunar Chronicles. Enough said.

Who gets stabbed in the back?

Hmm…this is tough. Oh I know! MAVEN!!! From Red Queen, because…reasons. If you’ve read Red Queen you know exactly why. He betrayed my trust so he’s dead to me!

What elemental magic would you choose to wield and why? (Fire,Air,Water,Earth)

Water. I am a water sign and I think it would be awesome if I could control water, freeze it and throw it at my enermies,  and just make it rain whenever I wanted it to 🙂

Well there you have it! Thank you so much for reading and please feel free to do this tag!

But I also tag:

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Audiobooks

Okay so T5W is going to be more like Top However Many I’ve Actually Listened To this week because I don’t even think I’ve listened to 5 audiobooks. But oh well…I’ll try.

Top 5 Wednesday is group created by Gingerreadslainey from Booktube. You can join and follow the Goodreads group here for future topics.

So like I’ve said, I haven’t listened to five audiobooks but the ones I have listened to where really fun and I enjoyed them.

Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

This was narrated by Aziz himself and it was absolutely hilarious while being informative. I loved it. 😀

Fairest by Marissa Meyer

I have no idea who this is narrated by but it was fun. I thought she did an amazing job and it kept me interested in the story. I’ll be real, I wasn’t really looking forward to reading this story because I hate Levana but I think the audiobook helped a lot.

The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson

Because this was a collection of 10 short stories about Magnus Bane, there were a bunch of different narrators and I really liked it. Fun fun fun 🙂

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I listened to about 1/3 of this on audiobook. I thought it was was surprisingly easy to listen to and pay attention to.

Well that’s it. Wow one more and I would have had 5. Oh well! Thanks for reading!
