I visted the Outlander Artistry Exhibit!

paley

Hi guys! Today I thought I would share my experience visiting Outlander Artistry at the Paley Center in Hollywood! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram have you probably already seen these photos but I thought it would be cool to share here too since I have so many photos!

So last week was the last day that this exhibit would be running the Outlander exhibit and I just knew I had to see it before it left! I am so glad we decided to go because this was one the best days I have had all summer. Seeing all the amazing costumes that were designed and made all for the TV show was amazing! I can’t believe how many costumes and shoes, hats, gloves, everything is handmade for the show! It’s truly amazing.

Anyway, everything looked so beautiful and you can take a look at some of my photos below.

Enjoy ❤

They also had some set designs and set models set up to take a look at, but I am too short and couldn’t really take any decent photos of them! 😦 But! I hope you enjoyed the photos! They’re all so beautiful! Now I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us for season 3!

Drums of Autumn (Outlander #4) by Diana Gabaldon

DoA

synopsis

It began at an ancient Scottish stone circle. There, a doorway, open to a select few, leads into the past—or the grave. Dr. Claire Randall survived the extraordinary passage, not once but twice.

Her first trip swept her into the arms of Jamie Fraser, an eighteenth-century Scot whose love for her became a legend—a tale of tragic passion that ended with her return to the present to bear his child. Her second journey, two decades later, brought them together again in the American colonies. But Claire had left someone behind in the twentieth century—their daughter, Brianna….

Now Brianna has made a disturbing discovery that sends her to the circle of stones and a terrifying leap into the unknown. In search of her mother and the father she has never met, she is risking her own future to try to change history … and to save their lives. But as Brianna plunges into an uncharted wilderness, a heartbreaking encounter may strand her forever in the past … or root her in the place she should be, where her heart and soul belong….

*Slight spoilers in you haven’t read at least Voyager

Drums of Autumn takes place after the events of Voyager, where we find Brianna missing her mother and trying to find traces of Claire and Jamie. She enlists the help of Roger and when a surprising new discovery leaves them both running to the stones of Craigh na Dun many surprises unravel that I did not expect. It was a slow ride at times, but still very entertaining if you enjoyed the other books in the series like I have.

While I really enjoyed this installment in the Outlander series, I had a few problems with it. I didn’t really get wrapped into the story until about 300+ pages in. I felt like the slow build up was a little too slow and dull. I know this is the way Diana tells her stories, but usually there is a slow burn leading up to the intense climax. However with DoA, the slow burn led up to quite an underwhelming misunderstanding. A misunderstanding that could have led the last quarter of the book’s conflict resolved if one conversation would have taken place. To say it’s frustrating is a little of an understatement.

Another issue I had with DoA was Claire and Brianna. There is no doubt these two are mother and daughter because they are exactly alike. While Brianna takes after Jamie in her Scot Fraser stubbornness, she takes over Claire with her rashness. She is independent and often forgets the time period that she just stepped into. Plus, I wanted to strangle her for the way she talked to her father. Excuse you Bree, you’re being incredibly disrespectful what gives you the right?! While Claire is oftentimes too over dramatic in this novel. She overreacts over situations that she could have easily just rectified.

DoAOutlander

While I had a few issues. I still really loved this novel once everything really started to pick up. I loved seeing the relationship between Jamie and Bree (their first meeting seriously brought tears to my eyes) as well as the growing relationship with Roger. I seriously fell in love with Roger in this novel. He was so sweet and understanding and perfect for Bree. He understands her and knows just how to handle her.

I really enjoyed the life that Jamie and Claire are building on Fraser’s Ridge. They are finally settling into a life that they deserve (but still has some conflict because it’s Jamie and Claire). Though I do have to admit I miss being in Lallybroch and around Jenny and Ian and all the other Frasers.

Overall,  I really enjoyed reading this book. It was slow but still great. I loved Jamie even more than before. He is protective and an excellent father. It’s so bittersweet to see him finally be the father he deserved to be. I love Jamie and Claire together, always. Bree and Roger. Wee Ian and Rollo. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for our beloved Frasers.

The Outlander Book Tag!

OutlanderBookTag

🎶SIING ME A SONG OF A LASS THAT IS  GOOOOONE, SAY COULD THAT LASS BE I…..🎶

So it’s no surprise that Outlander is my favorite series of all time and I am obsessed. So when I saw Sasha from abookutopia create this tag I just knew I had to do it as well. Now I am going to try really, really hard not to choose Outlander for every single question because let’s be real, I could…

Let’s do this!

➳ YOU TOUCH SOME STANDING STONES AND GET TRANSPORTED BACK IN TIME, WHAT YEAR WOULD YOU HOPE TO LAND IN?

I am going to have to say the Victorian Era. I know many people always pick this era but honestly, it’s so fascinating to me. I am such a sucker for period piece movies and this time period was always my favorite. Besides, hello TID! Where’s my William?

tumblr_mu2k5jhVwe1qldmkfo4_500

➳ CLAIRE IS A VERY GOOD NURSE, WHAT TYPE OF SKILL WOULD YOU WANT TO HAVE THAT A FICTIONAL CHARACTER EXCELS AT?

Honestly, I am so untalented that it makes me cry that I am so worthless lol so I would take literally anything. However, I think I would like to a hacker? And I mean an awesome hacker like Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds. That woman can do and break into anything! Plus Felicity Smoak is pretty awesome so I wouldn’t mind being like her too!

➳ JAMIE AND CLAIRE ARE ULTIMATE RELATIONSHIP GOALS, WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FICTIONAL COUPLE?

Okay, Jamie and Claire are my ULTIMATE OTP so I just had to mention them, but I will choose…William Herondale and Tessa Gray. Yep another shocker right? Sorry, not sorry.

But how can I not choose them? I love their connection and their passion for the written word that they share. They are so beautiful and cute and I love to love them!

original

➳ THE ENDING OF OUTLANDER WAS SHOCKING, WHAT IS ONE ENDING OF A BOOK YOU READ THAT TOTALLY BLEW YOUR MIND?

Every single Sarah J Maas book! But I am going to go with LADY MIDNIGHT! This book took me completely by surprise. Oh man, my mind still goes fuzzy just thinking about it.

ladymid

➳ SCOTLAND HAS LOTS OF CASTLES AND WE SEE QUITE A FEW IN OUTLANDER. WHAT FICTIONAL KINGDOM WOULD YOU WANT AS YOUR OWN?

Limeros from Falling Kingdoms. I am constantly wishing I could be in the frozen palace with my baby Magnus Damora ❤ 😀

limeros

➳ OUTLANDER HAS SOME VERY STEAMY SCENES; WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROMANCE NOVEL?

Every single Colleen Hoover novel ever. Seriously, this woman knows how to write tragic and beautiful love stories that also have such a greater meaning. I think my favorite is going to have be Ugly Love because Miles and Tate have some very very hot and steamy scenes!

ColleenUglyLove1

➳ THE JACOBITE RISING IS A HUGE PLOT POINT IN THE OUTLANDER SERIES; WHAT BOOK HAS YOUR FAVORITE BATTLE IN IT?

I don’t know if this is considered a huge “battle” scene but I really liked the ending to Queen of Shadows with Aelin and Dorian…that is all I will say because of spoilers. But I really loved the visuals of it all. I thought it was a great scene. 🙂

➳ JAMIE AND CLAIRE GET MARRIED VERY UNEXPECTEDLY; WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER WOULD YOU WANT TO MARRY ON A WHIM?

Okay, I am sorry. I can’t not choose Jamie Fraser for this answer. No way. James Alexander Malcolm Fraser always! He is everything. I will never not choose him okay?
We belong together!

➳ SCOTLAND IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE; WHAT IS ONE FICTIONAL WORLD YOU WOULD LOVE TO VISIT?

THE WIZARDING WORLD. I’d feel like a fraud if I didn’t choose this world. I mean come on, IT’S MAGICAL!

hogwarts-17-1439322220

➳ IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE PAST, WOULD YOU?

No, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Plus, I think I would be too afraid to change something that makes the future even worse. I watch The Flash, it never goes well lol

If you want to do this tag then, I TAG YOU!

Until next time,

Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon

voyager

Their passionate encounter happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her… and her body still cries out for him in her dreams.

Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning to him and staying with their daughter in her own era, Claire must choose her destiny. And as time and space come full circle, she must find the courage to face the passion and pain awaiting her…the deadly intrigues raging in a divided Scotland… and the daring voyage into the dark unknown that can reunite or forever doom her timeless love.

This book was absolutely fantastic that IT GAVE ME SO MUCH ANXIETY!

I am still in awe with the amount of research that goes into this series and how flawlessly Diana Gabaldon weaves history into this incredible journey all the while showcasing Jamie and Claire’s unforgettable love. If history was this much fun I think I would have paid way more attention in high school 😉

I would recommend reading this book quickly. I made the mistake of picking it up and then setting it down for over a month so I lost my momentum. But once I got into the rhythm again, I flew threw it. I am no longer going to go into too much detail in my reviews because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who have not read the series, but I will say that if you loved Outlander you will not be disappointed. Jamie and Claire are their adorable selves and I couldn’t stop giggling like an idiot every time they have a scene together.

tumblr_m0sulodOII1rrdywqo1_400

I love Jamie’s loyalty, strength, bravery, and love he has for his family, friends and Sassenach. With Claire, I love her sass! She doesn’t take anything standing down and isn’t afraid to take risks.

Voyager introduced many new characters that were great, sans wee Ian, as well as bringing in some favorites from previous books. These books have so many interweaving story lines and flows together beautifully. I am so glad I have decided to give this series a chance because it’s my favorite. If you have any reservations about starting this series, please do.

And if you have read Outlander…you are in for a ride with this one! ❤

Overall, this book was a wild “voyage” get it, get it? 😉  I think this is my second favorite book in the series so far, because I still have a soft spot for Outlander.

Until next time,

The Book Love Tag | The Bookish Khaleesi

booklove

Hello lovelies!! How are you all today? I still haven’t read anything this week and it’s stressing me out because I really want to! 😥

But oh well, I’ll just rewatch Gilmore Girls until motivation strikes me again. So I thought since I am not reading anything it was the perfect time to do a tag! Today’s tag was brought to me by Kat Impossible! Thanks so much again for the tag! Make sure to check out her post because it was so on point!

So without further ado…

Your favorite book couple.

clamie

I am sorry that I always choose Claire and Jamie for every love related question but I just love them so dang much! They are perfect together and their love is so magical! You can feel it bleeding from the pages! It’s so strong and they are absolutely perfectttttt!

Your top 3 book boy/girlfriends

Okay this is going to be very difficult, but I’ll just mention my recent additions to my never-ending list of book boyfriends. 😉

  • Magiano (The Young Elites): Seriously, read The Rose Society and you’ll fall in love with him too.
  • Kaz Brekker (Six of Crows): Need I say more?
  • Khalid (The Wrath and the Dawn): ❤ I can’t get enough of him! I cannot wait for the sequel because I am dying without Khalid and Shazi!

Imagine your favorite book couple. Who would propose, and how? (If there’s already been a proposal: who would be more into organizing the wedding?)

But, I don’t wan to spoil anyone? Okay I guess if there was a proposal Jamie would totally pop the question and Claire would organize everything. And knowing Jamie, he’d sweep Claire off her feet!

Unpopular opinions time! Name a popular pairing you can’t stand.

blah

Bleh. I am not a fan at all of Thomas and Teresa (The Maze Runner). I just didn’t care for Teresa at all, and I am not saying I think he should be with Brenda at all. I just didn’t really believe Thomas’s feelings toward Teresa at all.

What’s your favorite and least favorite romance trope?

Favorite: I am taking Kat’s answer because I agree 100%.  Pretend/fake relationships that turn into something real. You already know those two are going to fall hard for each other because how can they not? Some of the sweetest love stories started out as fake and I loved them!

Least: INSTA-LUST! I think this is worst than insta-love, in my opinion. The “I can’t stand them, but oh-my-god I can’t keep my hands off them”I just don’t buy it at all and this is one of the reasons I get turned off from NA because they usually are always nothing but lust in the beginning and it’s tiring.

Do you ship non-canon couples often? Name some if you do.

celorian

Yep. Dorian and Aelin (Throne of Glass) totally. This is still one of my biggest heartbreaks in YA! 😥 😥

Your opinion on love triangles. Go!

I usually don’t mind love triangles because they are very popular in YA, but I hate when there is just no need for another party to come along just to stir up trouble. Triangles done nicely are awesome and I can totally roll with them.

Favorite and least favorite love triangle?

Favorite: Will, Tessa and Jem from The Infernal Devices? Perfection!

willtessajem

Jamie, Claire, and Frank from Outlander? Yes.

JCF

Least: America, Maxon, and Aspen from The Selection. I am sorry but Aspen never stood a chance and it was annoying that Aspen was there like an annoying gnat that wouldn’t go away.

Sometimes romance just isn’t the way to go. Favorite friendship?

Juliette and Kenji (Shatter Me) will always be my favorite friendship! Kenji is just the awesome supportive best friend that you want by your side.

I am also going to mention Will and Jem because these two are the definition of parabatai

JemWIll

What’s your favorite scene with your bookish OTP?

I can’t pick just one!! Oh my gosh this is madness! Okay, okay, here is one that made me smile 😀

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon –

“Where did you learn to kiss like that?” I said, a little breathless. He grinned and pulled me close again.

“I said I was a virgin, not a monk,” he said, kissing me again. “If I find I need guidance, I’ll ask.”

Imagine your favorite book couple again. Who’s most excited about Valentine’s Day (either ironically or genuinely)?

jlaire

I say Jamie because he’s such a softie and never misses a chance to let Claire know she’s loved by him.

Now It’s your turn:

And YOU if you’d like to do this tag!

*Please ignore if you’ve already done it or don’t want to 🙂

Well that’s it! Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you in my next post!

XXOO ❤
