Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.
When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.
Or maybe not.
Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.
Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?
It’s common knowledge by now that Colleen is one of my favorite authors, so it’s honestly no surprise to me at all how fantastic this novella was. It was short, sweet, hilarious, and everything I needed to read right now. I needed a quick pick-me-up and this was calling my name. I read Maybe Someday a while ago and absolutely fell in love with Warren. He was one of my favorite parts about Maybe Someday and though I couldn’t stand Bridgette, I was a little hesitant to start this right away.
Bridgette is just straight out mean. She’s rude and such a b****, I didn’t hate her, but I didn’t care about her. This novella changed that. You learn the reasons behind her cold exterior and watch as Warren carefully tears down her walls. It’s such a sight to see. I didn’t connect to her as much as I’ve connected to other CoHo characters, but Bridgette honestly goes through such a drastic development within 130 pages that it’s astonishing. For that, I praise you CoHo. It’s always amazing how easily she can make you fall in love with her characters in such a short amount of time.
“It’s hard to fall in love with assholes, Warren.”..
“Maybe you just haven’t met the right asshole yet.”
Warren, on the other hand, is my baby. He is so dang adorable and I want him for myself. The pranks he plays, his sarcasm, his humor, his loyalty, all the while being the perfect guy to make you fall in love. I am so glad this novella was told 100% from his POV. I loved being inside his head and seeing Bridgette the way he saw her, getting to know her as he did, and breaking down her heavily guarded walls. When he did, my god are they absolutely perfect for each other ❤
“The only difference between falling in love and being in love is that your heart already knows how you feel, but your mind is too stubborn to admit it.”
If you’ve read Maybe Someday and missed the characters as much as I did, pick this novella up! It’s classic Colleen while offering more to the story. It’s light, sweet, and fun.
“I know. A bitch who finally met the right asshole.”
Until next time,
